Where Palinuro and Kamaratòn meet

Palinuro's natural arch, a few steps from the mouth of the Mingardo, is one of the wonders of Cilento. Always admired, painted and photographed, it represents a real gateway from the mouth of the Mingardo to the tongue of sand overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The natural arch of Palinuro with its beach is just a few steps from the mouth of the Mingardo river, which marks the border between Palinuro and Camerota.

The Natural Arch of Palinuro frames its beach and is a true architectural beauty of nature. Located a few steps from the mouth of the Mingardo river, it is one of Palinuro's most visited attractions. The natural arch beach is fine and golden and is currently not accessible due to the risk of falling rocks. From the beach it is also possible to admire the Rabbit rock. The entire rocky ridge has been secured to prevent accidental rock falls.

  • The Natural Arch of Palinuro is located just a few steps from the mouth of the Mingardo river, one of Cilento's most picturesque rivers, particularly the stretch from San Severino di Centola to Palinuro, running alongside the road, where the river over time has created a real canyon.
  • The river flows within the border of the municipalities of Centola and Camerota, and on its banks there is the beach. In particular, on the left bank (looking at the sea), there is one of the longest beaches in Cilento, the Mingardo beach, formed with the sediments of the river.
  • The Cape preserves signs of distant human settlements, with tombs dating back to around the 5th century B.C. and archaeological finds that show how the beauty and strategic position of the port favoured the settlement of a Greek colony.
