The Cilento Coast, from Paestum to Castellabate...

Every year, the Cilento Coast attracts tourists from all over the world thanks to its unparalleled seascape and coastal towns rich in history, villages and tradition.
Paestum, with its sanctuaries and temples, is one of the most famous archaeological sites, with traces of Greek and Roman domination. The sea is cradled by posidonias that guarantee clean waters, with a rich and prosperous marine flora.

Nestled in the Cilento National Park, Marina di Camerota is a picturesque town characterised by white beaches (such as Cala Bianca) surrounded by Mediterranean maquis, some of which can only be reached by boat. Also noteworthy is the intimate Pozzallo beach, surrounded by other beautiful coves. The emerald green sea of Monte di Luna, Cala degli Infreschi and Cala d'Arconte are no less impressive.

Referred to as the Gateway to the Cilento Coast, Agropoli is home to a well-equipped tourist port, a populous promenade - full of restaurants and pizzerias - and an historic centre perched overlooking the harbour and the crystal-clear sea.

Castellabate, on the other hand, an ancient hilltop village that dominates spectacular seaside resorts (Santa Maria di Castellabate, San Marco di Castellabate, Punta Licosa and Ogliastro Marina), was elected one of the hundred most beautiful villages in Italy. Suggestive are its stairways overhanging the sea.

…to Acciaroli, Punta Licosa and Cape Palinuro

Still an authentic fishing village, Acciaroli is said to have inspired “The Old Man and the Sea” by Ernest Hemingway, a great lover of these places. Part of its territory is the renowned beach of Pollica, among the most awarded beaches in Italy for cleanliness and beauty.

Punta Licosa combines land and sea, being characterised by a fragrant pine forest and a white beach washed by clear, transparent water.

The promontory of Capo Palinuro overlooks the sea and offers an unforgettable panorama, with a coastline dotted with caves (such as the Grotta Azzurra) in which, by filtering light, it is possible to witness peculiar optical effects. The beaches also deserve special mention, such as the Arco Naturale and Baia del Buon Dormire.
